A side table made almost exclusively from garbage found in Osnabrück. As an artist I always keep an eye out when roaming the streets. The table's surface and legs are made of frame slats from thrown away beds, whilst the eye is made from highly grained leftover pieces of wood. The iris is ebonised using a naturally sourced iron acetate and tannin. The deep black color is achieved by multiple coats and using end grain mahogany.

Bed slats are nowadays produced with planned obsolescence in mind and only last on average 10 years, therefore they appear as trash on the streets all the time. Unfortunately, they are then considered useless waste and are burned. When saved, recycling is quite tedious due to the lacquered faces, however, with a supersurfacer these are readily removed and a glueable surface is achieved. The slats are then glued into panels that can be used to create furniture.
