I am fascinated by the concept of chirality in geometry, where an object does not equal its mirror image. A chiral object and its mirror image are said to be enantiomorphs. For example out of the thirteen Archimedean solids only two are chiral, the snub cube and snub dodecahedron. This concept inspired me to design two enantiomorph side tables with a twist! They are made out of ash and mahogany wood with a glass top, with strong and durable joinery through pinned dados for the legs and open mortise and tenons for the frames. The intricately intertwined legs make these pieces real eye-catchers. This design can be adapted to any regular polygon base and any number of legs per side, through an algorithm I specifically developed for this project.
